Alabama defensive end LT Overton isn’t shying away from the spotlight—or the trash talk. In a recent interview during offseason training, Overton made waves when he confidently stated, “I’m better than you.” It wasn’t arrogance, he explained. It was mindset.
“Every time I line up, I have one goal: dominate,” Overton said. “If I don’t believe I’m the best on that field, then I’ve already lost.”
That fearless attitude is quickly becoming a hallmark of Overton’s game. Since transferring to Alabama, the former five-star recruit has embraced the Crimson Tide’s high expectations and competitive environment. Known for his explosive first step and relentless motor, Overton is poised to take a major leap in the 2025 season.
Teammates and coaches alike have taken note of his energy and edge.
“LT brings that alpha mentality every day,” said Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack. “It’s not just talk—he backs it up with effort, preparation, and a hunger to get better.”
Overton’s comments may ruffle feathers outside Tuscaloosa, but inside the locker room, they’re seen as a rallying cry. He’s not just setting a standard for himself—he’s challenging the entire defense to rise to his level.
“When I say ‘I’m better than you,’ it’s not just personal. It’s about setting the tone,” Overton said. “It’s about making the guy across from me second-guess everything he does.”
As Alabama reloads for another title run, that kind of ruthless mentality could be exactly what the Tide needs. With LT Overton leading the charge, opponents might just start to believe him—whether they
want to or not.
